Who is responsible for completing Cub Scout achievements?
All achievements are the responsibility of the individual Cub Scout and require support and commitment from the Cub Scout’s parent or guardian. Achievements may be completed independently by the Cub Scout. The Cub Scout will receive full credit for completed achievements once written verification is submitted by the parent or guardian to the Den Leader.
What is the Den Leader’s role in advancement?
The Den Leader is responsible for implementing a plan that provides participating Cub Scouts with opportunities to complete achievement requirements, earn Adventure Loops or Pins, and achieve their rank badge.
Can a Cub Scout earn their badge through activities outside of den or pack meetings?
Yes. If a Cub Scout does their best to complete the required achievements through any combination of Pack activities, Den participation, and/or individual initiative, they should confidently expect to earn their badge before the final meeting in May.
What happens if a Cub Scout does not regularly participate?
If a Cub Scout does not make a reasonable effort to participate in Pack or Den activities, complete requirements independently, or communicate extenuating circumstances through their parent or guardian to the Den Leader to arrange alternative options, they should not expect to earn their badge.
